My primary research interests are: 1)
Improving our understanding of the role of oceanic processes
in regulating the atmospheric abundance of trace species
important to climate change and air quality (e.g. halocarbons,
sulfur compounds, alkyl nitrates, etc.), and 2) Assessing the
potential for feedbacks between climate change and these oceanic processes.
I use laboratory and field measurements along with numerical modeling to
investigate the air/sea exchange and the biogeochemical cycling of these
important trace species. The analytical techniques used in my lab include
gas chromatography with mass spectrometry and gas chromatography with
electron capture detection. The models used range from local marine
boundary layer photochemical box models to global oceanic uptake models.
